University Police Arrest Man Fixing Flat While Intoxicated
University of Georgia police arrested a 21-year-old Hoschton man early Sunday when they found him fixing a flat tire while intoxicated and discovered a handgun in his car when they searched, UGA police said.
Officers saw David Ray Dixon fixing his car in the lower Oconee Street parking lot about 12:20 a.m., and they tried to arrest him when he failed a roadside sobriety tests, according to police. Officers handcuffed Dixon and put him in a patrol car while they searched his car, police said, but the man fled and was caught after a short chase. Officers found a .22-caliber revolver in the car, police said.
